Barr-Nunn Truck Driver Orientation

Once you've met our qualifications and joined our team, you'll embark on a comprehensive orientation program designed to prepare you for success on the road. This program builds upon the strong foundation established by your experience and qualifications, equipping you with the specific knowledge and tools needed to thrive as a Barr-Nunn driver.

The truck driver orientation program is tailored to the needs of both company drivers and Owner-Operators. It combines classroom instruction with hands-on training, ensuring you gain a deep understanding of our company policies, safety protocols, dispatch procedures, and efficient driving techniques specific to our fleet and routes. You'll also have the opportunity to meet key personnel from different departments, fostering a sense of community and support within the Barr-Nunn family.

We understand that starting a new job, particularly in a demanding industry like trucking, can be overwhelming. That's why our trucking orientation program is designed to be informative and engaging. Our experienced team will guide you through every step, answer your questions, and provide the resources you need to feel confident and prepared behind the wheel. Whether you're a seasoned driver or a newer driver who has just completed their first year of OTR experience, our orientation program will equip you with the knowledge and tools to excel at Barr-Nunn Transportation.

New truck drivers attend a 3 day orientation at one of our terminal locations in:

• Charlotte, NC
• Columbus, OH
• Manchester, PA (near York)

You can learn more about our terminal locations on our Locations page. Orientation classes start on Mondays at all locations.

The following requirements are performed prior to orientation:

• DOT physical and drug screen (at Barr-Nunn's expense)
• Human Performance Evaluation (HPE) - company truck drivers only

The following topics are covered in orientation:

• Road driving test
• Safety protocol
• Operational procedures and requirements
• Omnitracs Training
• Benefits review
• All required hiring/leasing paperwork
• Equipment inspection (Owner Operators)

Barr-Nunn will provide transportation for Company Truck Drivers at our expense. Owner Operators will need to bring their tractor.

Barr-Nunn will provide lodging at a nearby hotel. You will have your own private room. Our hotels all provide free breakfast items.

Barr-Nunn will provide lunch at our terminal during class days.
